What is ISA?

The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) has served the tree care industry for 100 years as a scientific and educational organization. ISA is recognized as the global source for arboricultural information and knowledge, promoting the professional practice of arboriculture and fostering a greater worldwide awareness of the benefits of trees.

What is an ISA Certified Arborist?

An ISA Arborist certification is a voluntary, non-governmental process that allows individuals to document their base of knowledge in tree care. This certification provides a measurable assessment of an individual’s understanding of the essential skills required for proper tree maintenance.

Achieving the status of ISA Certified Arborist® acknowledges the individual as a knowledgeable tree care professional among peers and the public. Certified arborists are recognized for their expertise in areas such as tree biology, diagnosis, maintenance, and safety. To maintain their certification, arborists are required to continue their education, ensuring they stay updated on the latest techniques and practices in the field.

What can happen if you dont hire a Certified Arborist?

Trees are living things, most of which have life spans as long or longer than our own.  Entrusting their care to someone not fully trained and who may be the cheapest alternative today, may end up costing you more in the long run. Certified Arborists in their every day lives all too often see and cringe at the results of bad tree pruning, and poor work practices performed by the all too many self proclaimed tree service companies.
